Learning To Listen With Your Heart

I know how important it is to listen, really listen with your heart. I will admit, I am not always the best at it. Listening is a form of caring. When you listen with intent, you are telling the story-teller what they are saying is important to you. You are showing the person they are important to you.

Listen with your heart.

Learning To Listen With Your Heart

“Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you.

Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you.”

I am working hard on this second one. I am working on really listening, when someone is talking to me. Listen with an empathetic ear. I am guilty of failing at this, as I am sure we all are from time to time. If you are like me, you need to learn to listen with your heart.

Support And Nurture Dreams-Grow A Forest

When we help others, by supporting them, we help ourselves. Giving support and nurture to creatives, watering them, we help them build a future. We help them grow into a tree. We help grow a forest. By doing this, our own success will follow.

This is a story of a little acorn, dreams, support and nurture. and a future forest.

“Dreams are the seeds of change. Nothing ever grows without a seed, and nothing ever changes without a dream.” Debby Boone

Support And Nurture Dreams-Grow A Forest

This weekend, and all spring long, I have been getting my hands dirty. Although I actually hate getting my hands dirty, literally, I do love the aftermath. The finished product. I love the outcome of hard work.

Nurture Your Creation, And Your Creation Will Nurture You

I keep finding myself outside, planting. Planting flowers, buying more plants and flowers, to plant. I get great joy from making my patio beautiful. My shade garden also makes me happy. The joy comes from the planning and planting, the taking care of the plants. And later, joy comes when I look at my hard work and see the beauty.

Planting a garden, or planting a container garden, is hard work.  But the payoff is beauty. Nurture your creation and your creation will nurture you.

Courage-Challenging Yourself to Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Courage and bravery can mean anything to anyone. To me, courage is doing something that is uncomfortable, something that causes my heart to race, something that will help me grow as a writer, and as a person.

Courage is defined as “the ability to do something that frightens one.” And also as, “strength in the face of pain or grief.”

I have written about courage many times before, and I think it is important enough to write about again. I have written about my mantra–Over the Edge, how I found these three powerful words and why I use them.

Give Compliments Freely-Let Your Tongue Speak What Your Heart Thinks

How freely do you give compliments? How many times have you stopped yourself from a simple compliment like telling her you like her shirt? Don’t let the moment pass without letting her know. If you are thinking something positive about someone, let them know. Let the love out. Let it flow.

If you can’t live without them, let them know. If you love them, tell them, and tell them why. Give compliments freely.

Let your tongue speak what your heart thinks.” Davy Crockett

If Nothing In Nature Blooms All Year, Why Should You?

Be patient with yourself, nothing in nature blooms all year. We as humans are all different, but alike in the fact that we are not perfect. We are real. We are beautiful, but not perfect.

Be patient with yourself, nothing in nature blooms all year.

Flowers and weeds are that way, too.  Not all flowers are beautiful, not all are perfect. Flowers don’t bloom everyday and neither do we.

If Nothing In Nature Blooms All Year, Why Should You?

Age Gracefully-Four Things Your Mother Should Have Told You

They say, age gracefully. Graceful is not a word ever used to describe me. I have always stumbled through life, and I suppose I will stumble in my older years, as well. I hope I age gracefully. If I would have listened to my mother more, perhaps I would be gracefully aging more.

You probably did receive this advice from your mother.  You may or may not have listened. I hope you did.  If not, read this.

They say, age gracefully. And yet, we have all the age-defying products available to us. There is surgery after surgery available to us. We could get enhanced and lifted on every area of our body, if we wish. And some do. If I don’t like the sagging skin on my elbow, there’s a surgery for that.

Embrace The Crazy-Parenting And What I Wish I Would Have Known

Being on the other side of the parenting rainbow, having twenty-somethings, I look back on my parenting and wish I had slowed down. I wish I had embraced the crazy. The crazy moments when you’re exhausted and tired of all the running around and fussing and mess.

I wish I would have done a few things different. I wish I had embraced the crazy!

While I think my husband and I were good parents, (of course you would have to ask my children?), I do believe we could have done a few things differently. I think we could have slowed down, calmed down and embraced the crazy!

Remembering to embrace the crazy and all mess, would have been smart.

Embrace The Crazy-Parenting And What I Wish I Would Have Known

Because do you want your children to remember how clean your house is or how you much time you spend with them?
