I live and love in Waco and I occasionally write about my adventures and where you should have a Waco adventure!

Yes,if you know me at all, you know I love Waco and I also love writing about my Waco adventures.  I am a Contributing Writer for a new blog called Waco Moms Blog and my first article I wrote was, of course, about Waco.

Home Sweet Finally Home; where my heart is

There’s no place like home. Home is where the heart is. Home sweet home. What does home mean to you? Home to me is where I belong. You belong.

Home is a place.  A place to lay your head, stay warm, a place to put your stuff.  All the well-known quotes say it best.  It’s where we laugh.  Where we love.  Where we pray. It’s where we cry.

Being grateful and choosing happy; two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times

I learned something about myself while going through a difficult period a few years ago; I learned I am a happy person. I also learned I am a grateful person.

Being grateful and choosing happy are two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times.

Being grateful and choosing happy; two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times

Being happy, smiling through the bad days, helps you turn those days from bad to good. It isn’t being fake or putting on airs, it is more like survival. The act of smiling can trick you into thinking you are happy, and that changes your perspective.

ten simple ideas to put spring back in your step

Spring has sprung! It is spring again!

Spring wakes you up just as it wakes the earth. Everything is new again. Spring is a nurturing time, a renewal. Time to wake up and get moving. If you are going through a tough time, spending time outdoors will help your mood wake up, brighten up, and you will feel new again, too.

Sometimes when you are feeling down, getting up and cleaning will get that down mood turned around. Spring cleaning, both inside and out, will brighten your mood and brighten your world around you.

Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins that are nutritious

I recently found a recipe for Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins and I am in love! Always searching for a nutritious breakfast that is low in calories and low in fat, I am happy to say I finally found one. I want to share it with you!

I found this recipe for Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins; tweaked it a bit and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

These Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins are the answer I have looked for in a yummy, quick breakfast that isn’t full of sugar and fat. I only started eating breakfast a few years ago when I read, over and over again, how important it is in weight loss. In the past, I have had a hard time finding something to eat that I enjoy for breakfast.

Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins that are nutritious

Since I was young, I have had breakfast issues.

You see, I don’t like eggs.

Preferring something quick for breakfast and always trying to be more healthy (on a diet, duh!),  I have tried protein bars and even though I like them, they usually are full of things I don’t need.

The Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins are just the ticket.

Looking forward, but staying in the moment

Do you ever catch yourself looking forward to something? Looking forward to the weekend. A relationship, better weather, a holiday? Do you ever look back on time and wonder where the week went? Month? Year? Or maybe even years?

I am guilty of wishing my days away and I am trying to stop myself. I believe as humans, in this day and time, we are never satisfied and are always looking forward to the next big thing. While it is normal to look forward to an exciting event like a holiday, a new beginning, or perhaps moving, you lose time and enjoyment in the daily if you are always looking to events in the future.

Seize this moment.

Putting others first

Putting others first is a noble and smart thing to do. It is not always the easiest thing but it is almost always the wisest choice.

Sometimes, when you are down, putting others first, not thinking about your problems, is the hardest thing to do.

When things are bad in your life, it is easy to become a bit selfish and wallow in your own troubles. I promise you, if you do this, you will stay in the pity-hole.

putting others first

The best way to get out of that pity-hole is by putting others first.

“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” -Booker T. Washington

I learned a long time ago, when I’m down, I must ask for help. I can’t get out of my blue mood by myself.

How do I do this? Who do I turn to?

Send a hand-written note to someone you love

In this age of texts, tweets and emails, there is a closeness lost, a personal connection that seems to have gone away. Where are the days of love letters, thank you notes, perhaps a hand-written note?

While I love all those technical communications I mentioned above, (I hate talking on the phone!), because it is February and Valentine’s Day, wouldn’t it be nice to let someone know you are thinking about them, loving them, by mail? A hand-written note? The old-fashioned way?

When my husband and I dated in the late 80’s, we lived two-hours away from each other. This was before all the technical devices we now have and love. The only way to communicate was through a landline (a what?). One of those phones that had a cord and a wire in the wall. We talked every night, once a day, and that was long distance; it was costly.

We also communicated by letter.
