Mental health; its okay to not be okay

It’s okay to not be okay. These are sweet words. Sweet because everyone hustles around, trying to be busy because we all think busy is how to be. We hustle around trying to be perfect because we all think perfect is how to be. We are supposed to all have perfect homes, with perfect people inside them. Perfect relationships with our kids and our parents.

Mental health; its okay to not be okay

Perfection.

That is not a sweet word. This word sets us up for failure. Because is there really such a thing? Perfection?

We will never get back the life we waste trying to be normal. -Atticus

Three important things graduating seniors should know

I want to share with you three things, three important pieces of wisdom graduating seniors should know. You are probably tired of hearing advice; you are grown now and you want people to stop parenting you. If you are wise, you will listen to all the elderly advice—all of it–it is all given in love.

Dear girl who is about to take on the world,

I remember how it feels to graduate. I have worn the black cap and gown twice. Each time is an ending, but more importantly, a new beginning. Embrace this time, soak it in, rally in the moment!

Doors; opening and closing life’s doors

Life is a series, a hallway, if you will, of doors. You will walk through your share of doors, good doors and bad. You will have life’s doors shut in your face and you will have doors open and welcoming you in.

I have walked through my share of doors. Often, with the door slamming behind me and I feel myself in an empty dark place. When the less happy doors open for you, and you are shoved through them, remember you will be walking through a jollier door before you know it.

What Do You Want to be When You Grow up?

Can you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? Your first dream of what you wanted to be? A lot of children want to be doctors, veterinarians and teachers. Astronauts, sports stars or the president.

Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?

Danielle LaPorte

What Do You Want to be When You Grow up?

Seniors are encouraged to know what they want to study when they graduate and enter college. They are supposed to know what they want to be when they grow up. I feel sorry for those who don’t know because this gives them a sense of failure.  Not everyone knows at 18 years of age what they want to be when they grow up.

Did you?

How I Am Learning to Accept and Love my Body in Pictures

One of the biggest struggles in life for me is complete self-love.  As I grow older, I am becoming me more and I am loving it.  I am now trying to learn to accept and love my body, in pictures. Accepting me for me, perhaps, is a mature thing, and perhaps, it is about time.

Even though I am being a more authentic me, one struggle I still have is accepting and loving my body.  I find myself always worrying about dieting, cheating on my diet, worrying about how I feel and look in my clothes, and sadly, how I think others think about how I look in my clothes.

Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do I care?  Why does society tell me what size I need to be to be happy?  Why, oh why, do I listen?

I live and love in Waco and I occasionally write about my adventures and where you should have a Waco adventure!

Yes,if you know me at all, you know I love Waco and I also love writing about my Waco adventures.  I am a Contributing Writer for a new blog called Waco Moms Blog and my first article I wrote was, of course, about Waco.

Wacotown; where you should have a Waco adventure

The big W has become a tourist attraction, which still amazes most people who are from Texas but if you love Waco and know Waco, you understand and think ‘finally’!

Home Sweet Finally Home; where my heart is

There’s no place like home. Home is where the heart is. Home sweet home. What does home mean to you? Home to me is where I belong. You belong.

Home is a place.  A place to lay your head, stay warm, a place to put your stuff.  All the well-known quotes say it best.  It’s where we laugh.  Where we love.  Where we pray. It’s where we cry.

Being grateful and choosing happy; two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times

I learned something about myself while going through a difficult period a few years ago; I learned I am a happy person. I also learned I am a grateful person.

Being grateful and choosing happy are two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times.

Being grateful and choosing happy; two qualities that can help you make it through difficult times

Being happy, smiling through the bad days, helps you turn those days from bad to good. It isn’t being fake or putting on airs, it is more like survival. The act of smiling can trick you into thinking you are happy, and that changes your perspective.

Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins that are nutritious

I recently found a recipe for Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins and I am in love! Always searching for a nutritious breakfast that is low in calories and low in fat, I am happy to say I finally found one. I want to share it with you!

I found this recipe for Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins; tweaked it a bit and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

These Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins are the answer I have looked for in a yummy, quick breakfast that isn’t full of sugar and fat. I only started eating breakfast a few years ago when I read, over and over again, how important it is in weight loss. In the past, I have had a hard time finding something to eat that I enjoy for breakfast.

Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins that are nutritious

Since I was young, I have had breakfast issues.

You see, I don’t like eggs.

Preferring something quick for breakfast and always trying to be more healthy (on a diet, duh!),  I have tried protein bars and even though I like them, they usually are full of things I don’t need.

The Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins are just the ticket.
