Be Thankful Daily-Not Just In November

Tis the season to be thankful. I try to look around daily and give my gratitude to whom it belongs. Being blessed, with little things, as well as the big, daily, not just in November. We get blessings daily, why shouldn’t we be thankful daily?

A few years ago, I didn’t have a lot of “stuff” to be thankful for, so I learned to look around and search for what I already had to be thankful for. Daily.  This became a ritual for me and thankfully, still is today. I had a lot, even though we were going through a storm. I just had to open my eyes. I began praying prayers of thanksgiving throughout the day. We always have good in our life, even if we have gale-force winds causing damage to our otherwise happy lives. We have blessings and things to be thankful for. Always. It is up to us to open our eyes, see the things, and be grateful.

Find Yourself-Discovering Your True Self At Any Age

Life is a discovery at any age. Life is a journey. We choose the paths we take and sometimes the path chooses us. At any age, at any stage, you can find a new path. Take a new road. Find yourself.

Doing so is scary. It takes bravery to find yourself, find your true self. It is easier to keep walking on the same path you are comfortable traveling on.

The Hunt and the Find-where I shop for farmhouse decor

Since moving to our new house in April, I have shopped, decorated and made our house a home, not just four walls. I am enjoying the hunt and the find. I want to share with you where I shop for farmhouse décor.

As much as I like to shop, I like to shop smart, at least I like to think I do. Some of my friends have asked me the same question, over and over, “Where did you get this? It is so cute!” Since we moved in our new house, I have added more farmhouse décor, both modern and vintage. I’ve shopped a bit, both online and in some of Waco’s local shops. Per my husband, too much maybe? I am enjoying filling our new home with items that make me happy and that make our house a home.

Blogging rewards friends, honors and sunshine

Blogging, like life, brings many rewards.  I have found that blogging rewards come in all shapes and forms like new friends, special honors and even sunshine.

Blogging has been another chapter in my writing life, a chapter that I have enjoyed. I have learned and I have grown, both as a writer and as a person.  Writing has taught me to think deeper and use my words to (hopefully) cause others to think deeper.

Depression and Mental Health: Telling your kids mommy is sad

Speaking openly and honestly about depression and mental health is crucial in this day and time because so many of us deal with the darkness, the sadness, the disease ourselves.  If you don’t, I am sure you know someone who does.

But how do we have this open conversation with our kids? Our young kids. How do you talk about depression and mental health without scaring your children?

Depression and Mental Health: Telling your kids mommy is sad

How do we start the conversation and tell them “mommy is sad” without causing unneeded worry and fright? When is the proper age to begin speaking honestly to our children about issues we as parents face daily?

All lives matter-learn to love your neighbor

Once again, America is fighting among itself. Will we ever learn that all lives matter and we need to learn to love our neighbor? Will we ever realize we are all different and that difference is exactly what makes us Americans?

Our country seems to be arguing about which lives matter. Every life matters. Black lives matter. Brown lives matter. LGBT lives matter. Women matter. Men matter. Police matter. Americans matter.

All lives matter-learn to love your neighbor

All lives matter. We are all the same; from the same mold.

Writer’s block? Overcoming the demons of the block

Suffering from writer’s block, I started wondering why? Was my late-in-life dream over? Did I run out of my words? Will I never have new ideas to write about? Or, was I simply not trying hard enough?

Have you ever had a block of any kind? Something stopping you from fulfilling your dream? Your passion? Something keeping you from your zeal in life or your ambition?

Choosing to be happy-sunflowers and other smile bringers

Make your own sunshine. This is a mantra I believe in and live by for many years now. Possibly forever. Choosing to be happy, no matter what, choosing to see the bright side, no matter what, has been a lifesaver for me. Smile and you will get through it.

Choosing to be happy-sunflowers and other smile bringers

Don’t depend on others to make you happy. Only you can make you happy. Only you can choose to be happy.

Flying high above and feeling blessed-questions I ponder while flying

Headed to paradise, flying high above and through the clouds, I ask myself, “Why do I feel so spiritual up here?” Why do I feel more? Why do I feel the need to pray so much and actually feel more-feel more blessed, feel more close to God, feel more little?

If you know me at all, you know I love a blue sky. Beautiful, bright, blue skies, clustered with fluffy, thick, white clouds. I am always looking up on days like this and I am always taking pictures of the blue sky and the white clouds.
